2A STATE TOURNAMENT BASKETBALL - The Tongue River Lady Eagles took the state 2A Girls Basketball Title away from the Big Horn Lady Rams Saturday night to win the 2K10 title.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the 1st quarter, then bumped the lead to 19 at halftime and never looked back, beating Big Horn 55-38. Lady Eagles head coach Diane Moser.
The Lady Rams beat Tongue River three times before they met in this most recent title game. Moser says they finally got them in the game that mattered most.
Lady Eagles senior Fallon Lewis was amazing in the Semi-Finals and Finals. She hit for 22 points in their win in the Semi's against Wyoming Indian, and went for 24 points and 16 rebounds in the Championship game.
As for Lewis and the Lady Eagles, it was their fourth State Title in the last six seasons.
The win was also the 600th career win for Diane Moser as the coach of the Lady Eagles.
Just as there was much elation on the Tongue River side, it was just the opposite on the Big Horn side. The Lady Rams had a whale of a run, winning two state titles in 08' and 09'. Head coach Wayne Hall.
Hall says the Lady Rams just got off to a slow start and never got going. They end the season as the runner up and an impressive record of 28-1.
The Big Horn Rams and Tongue River Eagles were both knocked out of the tournament last Friday losing twice.
4A EAST REGIONAL BASKETBALL - The Sheridan High School Bronc and Lady Bronc basketball teams will be heading to Casper Thursday to begin their State tournament.
The Lady Broncs beat Gillette for 3rd place Saturday at the Regional Tournament in Laramie. They will play Evanston in their first round game Thursday at Casper College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30; we will broadcast the game for you live on AM 1410 KWYO.
The Broncs lost to Gillette in the Regional Championship game 63-59. As the 2-seed, the Broncs will play Rock Springs in the 1st round at Casper College Thursday night at 7:30. That game will be broadcast live on AM 1410 KWYO and 95.9 FM.
REGION NINE WOMENS BASKETBALL - The Sheridan College Lady Generals were eliminated from their Region Nine tournament by Central Wyoming yesterday in Sterling, Colorado.
REGION NINE MENS BASKETBALL - The Generals took out Western Nebraska last night to advance into the Semi-Finals of the Region Nine tournament at the Hoffman Dome 92-73. They led wire-to-wire. Head coach Steve Smiley called it a good, solid victory.
The Generals face Casper College in the Semi-Finals. The T-birds beat the Generals twice during the regular season. And smiley says the Dome is the place to be tonight.
We will broadcast the game live tonight on AM 1410 KWYO and 95.9 FM. Tip-off is set for 8:00.
The other Semi-Final has Laramie County playing North Platte, Nebraska. That game tips at 6:00. The Championship game is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:00.
The Sheridan Bronc indoor track team took the 2K10 State Title in Laramie Saturday with 89.5 points. Gillette was 2nd with 67.5 points.
BRONCS WIN STATE INDOOR TRACK TITLE - Bronc senior Kody Williams went to special place in his final indoor meet for Sheridan High School, winning four events and setting new records in the 55 meters, 200 meters and triple jump. Ge also won the long jump.
Dylan Morin also brought home a State Title for the Broncs, winning the 3200 meter final.
The Lady Broncs finished 7th Lady Bronc senior Dana Morin won the only Lady Bronc State Title, winning the 3200 meters in record time.
